Industry Spotlight: Sherlyn Fox

Because of her role in helping me get where I am today, my first spotlight entry will focus on Sherlyn Fox of Studio Fox Nashville.
Sherlyn Fox, AICI - is a certified freelance makeup artist, certified image consultant, and certified color analyst. Beyond all her official titles, she is also a teacher, mentor, and fabulous friend.
I found Sherlyn when I was in search of a local makeup artist to be a guest speaker at Paul Mitchell the School Nashville. I did a google.com search, found her page - liked the information I found there - and dropped her an email. She told me at the time she'd be interested in speaking, but it was nearing the holidays, so we waited until after the New Year. After we got back in touch during the early spring, Sherlyn visited the school - and the rest is history.
I received my makeup artist certification through Sherlyn, and I work with her professional cosmetics line, Foxy Faces, both professionally and personally. She has been such a source of information and support to me during my training, and I cannot express enough just how spectacular she is.
Sherlyn's story is an inspirational one... She worked in a field totally unrelated to the beauty industry for many years. During this time she did makeup on the side and continued her training in the makeup field. She must've fallen in love with it, as she eventually left the occupation she'd held for so long and pursued a career in makeup full-time. It's an awesome thing to see women who have left the security of what they've "always done" to chase their dreams. It's even better to see them chase those dreams - and flourish in doing so.
Sherlyn expanded beyond simply doing makeup - and became a certified image consultant and color analyst. She opened her studio, Studio Fox Nashville, and then to top it all off - she became a trainer and mentor. Sherlyn teaches media makeup courses, airbrushing courses, color analysis courses, portfolio building, and she even offers etiquette training, and mini-demo sessions in makeup. She offers a whole host of services to her clientelle - including makeup, personal image consulting, personal color analysis, pageant coaching, makeovers and more.
Having been trained by Sherlyn, I'm in a position to say from experience that this lady is truly a dynamo. She's great at what she does, and she's a fantastic person to be around. I learned an amazing amount of information during my training with her, and she was continually patient and supportive of me throughout the training. I would highly suggest Sherlyn's courses to anyone looking for training in the makeup field. She has affordable rates, highly professional and in-depth course material, amazing products, and an all-star personality.
Before I close, I would like to take a moment to express my sincerest thanks to Sherlyn for all of her hard work and dedication to her field. I know that she will continue to experience great professional growth in this field. It's wonderful to have someone in the Nashville area who is equipped to train and educate other people looking to learn these skills. I have heard so many friends of mine in the hair and skin fields lament that they would have to travel so far and pay so much - to get decent cosmetic training. Now that we've found Sherlyn - that's no longer a concern!
