WZTV Fox Nashville / Paul Mitchell School

Since I've not been blogging a lot lately, I have several fun things to mention - aside from the NBC shoot, I also worked an awesome make-over shoot back at the end of the summer with Paul Mitchell the School Nashville and our local Fox affiliate - WZTV. Cosmetology students from PMTS Nashville worked hair - and I worked makeup. It was a rushed project, but otherwise a lot of fun!

NBC Sunday Night Football Video Shoot

Wow, it's been a while since I updated the blogs here!

Sorry for being so out of touch - I've been working on a lot of different things and haven't taken much time to update my blogs. I'll try to do better at this in the future!

In the meantime, thought I would mention that I recently worked a video shoot for NBC Sunday Night Football w/ Faith Hill. I did not do Faith's makeup. Naturally, she has her own artist. But, I did makeup on some extras and hung out at Blackbird studios all day. That is one nice studio!

Fashion Shoot w/ The Style Agency

I spent the last week working several shoots with Nashville Fashion Group and The Style Agency. This was a collaborative effort with the agency, Paul Mitchell the School Nashville and several of the students from the school (working hair/makeup). The work being done was for a number of different models who've been signed with The Style Agency.

It was a busy week, but I am extremely happy that I was asked to work this shoot. I'll be getting the professional photos sometime soon, and they'll be posted in the gallery as soon as I have them. I used airbrush makeup extensively during the shoots, and I was very happy with how the system worked. The models were fabulous, and it was truly a pleasure working with them all.

I'd like to mention here that the folks from NFG/The Style Agency are amazing - and I am very glad to have been able to work with them. If you're working within this industry - hair, makeup, modeling, fashion, etc. - you should definitely check out the NFG website and consider becoming a member. And, if you're looking to break into the modeling arena click here to view the Style Agency's page on the NFG website to see if you fit their basic criteria. If so, drop them a line. Their contact information is listed on the page.

Airbrush Makeup Certification

I recently completed airbrush makeup certification with Sherlyn Fox at Studio Fox Nashville. After completing the formal training and having now had the opportunity to use the airbrush system with a number of different models, I am convinced that airbrushing is the way to go. I am using a Temptu airbrushing system with Temptu makeup.

This type of application will likely become standard for my bridal clients, as the makeup goes on beautifully, never looks thick or caked-up - and lasts all day.

I'm also finding that airbrush is perfect for male models. It is easy to do very light concealing work without altering the texture of the skin and without the makeup ever looking even remotely visible.

The airbrush cosmetics go on much more flawlessly than do standard cosmetics, and it takes far less time to apply - with a lot less blending. It's also extremely easy to apply cosmetics to any areas of the body that may need to be touched up to match the face, or darkened/lightened for a shoot.

Airbrush makeup is definitely something that I will be working with a lot in the future, and I'm thinking that it may become my favored technique over standard. If you're interested in airbrush makeup, please feel free to contact me.

The Training Never Stops

I recently visited Universal Companies in Virginia to obtain certification in Jessner's peels, and a variety of other peels from Control Corrective skincare. I was also certified in the use of several types of advanced skincare equipment. The equipment training included Hydrafacial systems, Iontosonic, Gentle Waves, and Lymphobiology.

I will be leaving for West Virginia later this week to obtain additional training in the Lymphobiology methods. This is extremely exciting for me because this small machine can be used to improve fine lines and wrinkles, even out the skin complexion, reduce cellulite, reduce sinus and chest congestion due to infection or allergies, reduce swelling and bruising pre/post operatively, and it truly gives an instant face lift to people who have a single facial treatment with the machine. I am just in love with this technology. While I was in Virginia at Universal Companies I purchased the Lymphmed unit, and having now used it personally on myself and on several other people - I am satisfied that my investment was a good one. This unit is truly amazing, and it is certainly going to increase the value of the services I offer to clients.

I am considering creating a series of package deals to offer my bridal clients that would include pre-wedding Lymphobiology treatments. These treatments would range from facial treatments aimed at lifting and toning the facial muscles, and evening out the complexion to cellulite treatments. And yes, this machine REALLY DOES improve cellulite.

I really love combining the art of makeup application with the science of skincare. The two compliment each other so beautifully, and naturally, it helps me offer better services to have a knowledge of both.

I am so excited to have this new treatment option available, and I'm so thrilled to be advancing my training and knowledge in this amazing field. Afterall, the more credentials I have - the more training I receive - and the more certifications I obtain - the better prepared I am to assist my clients. And, that's the goal - right?
